Yang Hansen Signs Rookie Contract with Portland Trail Blazers
Portland Trail Blazers center Yang Hansen officially signed his rookie-scale contract on Tuesday, the organization announced.
The Trail Blazers selected Hansen with the No. 16 pick of the NBA Draft last Wednesday. Portland acquired the 7-foot-1 Chinese big man in a draft night deal that also netted a 2028 first-round pick (via Orlando), a 2027 second-round pick (via Atlanta) and a 2028 second-round pick (via Sacramento) from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for the draft rights to Cedric Coward, who Portland selected with the No. 11 pick that night.
According to Spotrac, Hansen will make $4.42 million his rookie season.
Hansen, who turned 20 last week, spent the last two years playing for the Qingdao Eagles’ senior team in the Chinese Basketball Association, the top professional league in the country. He averaged 16.6 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.6 blocks in 32.8 minutes per game across 45 contests during the 2024-25 season en route to earning his second consecutive CBA All-Star selection.
Also on Tuesday, rookie guard Caleb Love officially signed his two-way contract with the Trail Blazers, the organization announced.
The 6-foot-4 guard went undrafted last week. He joins the Blazers after a stellar five-year collegiate career that included three seasons with the North Carolina Tar Heels and two seasons with the Arizona Wildcats.
Love, 23, averaged 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals in 34.1 minutes per game for the Wildcats this past season, earning First Team All-Big 12 honors. The season before, he was named Pac-12 Player of the Year and was an AP Third Team All-America selection.
The Blazers haven’t released their Summer League roster yet. However, it seems likely both Hansen and Love will be suiting up when the franchise opens the Summer League slate against the Golden State Warriors on July 11.
