Women’s Golf: Stanford Intercollegiate Recap
The Oregon women’s golf team delivered another strong showing at the 2025 Stanford Intercollegiate, finishing second in a competitive 19-team field at Stanford Golf Course. The No. 3 Ducks opened with back-to-back rounds of 7-under 277 before closing with an even-par 284 on Sunday to finish 14-under for the weekend, four shots ahead of USC and behind only top-ranked Stanford (-34).
Four Ducks shot under par in the opening round as Oregon surged into second place on Friday. Tong An, Darae Chung, and Kiara Romero each carded 2-under 69s, while freshman Sophie Han contributed a steady 1-under 70. After a slow start on the back nine, Oregon caught fire on the front side, going 9 under to post its lowest first-round total of the fall.
The Ducks maintained their momentum on Saturday with another 7-under performance as all five players in the lineup finished under par. Han led the team with a 3-under 68, followed by An’s second consecutive 69. Romero, Chung, and freshman Shyla Singh each turned in 1-under 70s to keep Oregon firmly in second place entering the final round. Singh’s highlight came on the opening hole, where she chipped in for her first collegiate eagle.
On Sunday, star junior Kiara Romero capped the tournament in spectacular fashion, firing a 6-under 65 (the best individual round of the weekend) to climb into a tie for second at 9 under. Romero’s round included six birdies and an eagle, marking her 30th career sub-70 round and sixth career runner-up finish. Singh added an even-par 71 to close a strong weekend, while An and Han each posted 74s to help secure Oregon’s third straight top-three finish this fall.
Behind consistent play across the lineup and Romero’s closing surge, the Ducks once again proved themselves among the nation’s elite, continuing an impressive start to the 2025 season.
