Last week the ladies of Oregon finished up 2024 with a split up in Illinois, losing to the Fighting Illini but claiming victory over Northwestern.
To start 2025, they were clearly back in their comfort zone as they took care of the Wisconsin Badgers 68-52 in a game that really wasn’t even that close, as Oregon held a 23-point lead heading into the fourth.
Four Ducks scored in double figures while holding Badgers star Serah Williams, who had been averaging 19 points a game, to only three points and six turnovers.
Head Coach Kelly Graves praised Oregon’s defensive effort, calling it one of the best he’d seen from his squad. Other than the fourth, in which the game was already well in hand, the Ducks didn’t allow the Badgers to score more than 12 points in a quarter.
Oregon now has an 11-4 record overall, with a .500 record in conference.
Although they’ve held serve at Matthew Knight Arena, where they’ve played majority of their games so far, the women will have to start proving they can win on the road consistently in order to complete their redemption by making it back to the NCAA Tournament.
They get their chance this coming week with trips to State College, PA (on Thursday) and Columbus, Ohio (Sunday).
