After a dramatic finish for Softball on Saturday and a backyard whipping from Baseball, the tables were turned on Sunday as the ladies cruised while the men were in for a battle.

On the Softball side of town at the Jane, the Ducks woke up offensively early on, nabbing a 2-0 lead in the third inning off a double run single.

Michigan tacked on their only run of the game in the top of the fourth, although it was unearned and resulted in an Oregon injury.

Unphased, the Ducks added another two-run single in the bottom of the fourth and were up5-1 at the end of the inning.

Oregon’s pitching was on-point, especially early, as after a lead-off single Ducks pitcher Lyndsey Grein retired nine in a row.

Now on a nine game winning streak and firmly ensconced in the Nation’s Top 10, Oregon plays LMU at home before heading on the road for a series with Minnesota.

Unfortunately, things weren’t so smooth on the other side of the Willamete at PK Park as Baseball rather inexplicably lost an offensive shootout after dominating Michigan in their first two games.

With a leadoff homer for a 1-0 lead, it was a good enough start for Oregon, but the Wolverines jumped ahead 2-1 off an RBI triple.

A double steal by Maddox Molony gave Oregon a 7-6 lead, but Michigan scored four more runs in the sixth inning off of two Duck relievers.

Up 12-7 in the eighth, it looked like a wrap-up for Michigan, but Oregon rallied with a three-run homer that brought them within two at the bottom of the inning, and in the ninth, a solo shot got them within one.

However, they couldn’t pull even, and Michigan escaped with a victory, although Oregon took the series 2-1.

Trying to establish themselves as a National Force, Baseball has experienced a slew of head-scratching losses in the last month, and will need to be in good form as they head across the country to begin their next series with Maryland.
