The Saddest Restaurant Closures to Know in Portland, Oregon for June 2025
ST. JOHNS — Pastificio d’Oro fans have until Sunday, July 20, to get their fill of pasta. Owners Chase Dopson and Maggie Irwin shared on Instagram that their lease renewal was approaching in August, but they decided instead to close. The couple states they will take “a moment to rest and focus on our health,” but reassures that they’re not done cooking in Portland. Their challenge before they close? “Come put us all in the weeds,” they wrote. Understood.
PEARL DISTRICT — With the news that De Noche chef Dani Morales took over the reins at República on Thursday, June 12, comes the further revelation that De Noche itself is closing. The Oregonian reports that Lilia Comedor is set to move into the De Noche space at 422 NW Eighth Avenue; Lilia, meanwhile, closed the doors to its South Waterfront spot on Sunday, June 8.
GOOSE HOLLOW — The Portland Business Journal reports that vegan chain Next Level Burger closed its location at 1972 W Burnside Street. In a statement published by the Journal, the business wrote that the closure was “due to ongoing security concerns in the surrounding area,” vaguely pointing to a “significant incident during service.”
HOSFORD-ABERNATHY — Oui Presse closed its doors as of Saturday, May 31, reports Bridgetown Bites. The 14-year-old business was sold and will reopen as Rose City Pour, according to the site.
DOWNTOWN — ICYMI: Lil’ Shalom quickly closed its doors on Wednesday, April 30, sharing the news on the same day as its closure via Instagram. In its post, the owners noted that the lease was set to expire and the team was “at a crossroads.” “After weighing all the factors, we believe now is the most practical time to step away,” the post reads. Sesame Collective’s other restaurants — Shalom Y’All, Dolly Olive, Bar Dolly, Yalla, Mediterranean Exploration Company, and Bless Your Heart Burgers — remain open.
