Ducks Struggle Against UCLA’s Stacked Lineup
Facing a powerhouse UCLA squad featuring three ranked doubles teams and four top-100 singles players, the Oregon women’s tennis team fell 4-0 to the 26th-ranked Bruins on Friday at the UO Student Tennis Center.
UCLA (6-4, 1-0) secured the doubles point, but not without a fight from the Ducks. Bridget Mihulka and Karin Young pushed the Bruins’ third-ranked duo of Olivia Center and Kate Fakih to a tight 6-4 score on court two. Meanwhile, at the No. 1 spot, Tilde Jagare and Juliet Santitto trailed 5-4 against the nation’s 12th-ranked team when the point was clinched.
In singles, UCLA’s top three players won in straight sets to seal the match. Mihulka, competing at No. 5, claimed the first set in a tiebreak against Bianca Fernandez and was battling in the second when play was halted. Santitto was also in the middle of a second-set tiebreak on court six when UCLA wrapped up the victory.

Ducks Show Fight but Fall to No. 18 USC
Facing their third ranked opponent in four matches to open Pac-12 play, the Oregon women’s tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 18 USC on Sunday at the UO Student Tennis Center.
The Trojans took the doubles point with wins on courts one and three, though the Ducks nearly broke through at No. 2. Mihulka and Young led No. 44-ranked Jana Hossam and Sloane Morra 5-2 before the match was decided. At the top spot, Jagare and Santitto faced their second consecutive top-10 duo, falling 6-3.
Oregon came out strong in singles, winning first sets in three of six matches. Jagare, Mihulka, and Anastasia Souza each took early leads, with Souza going toe-to-toe against No. 47 Grace Piper. However, the Trojans responded, claiming singles wins at No. 1, 2, and 4—all against top-75 players—to secure the match.
Mihulka was level in her third set when play was stopped, while Santitto was on the verge of forcing a third set, leading 5-4 in the second.

Duck Men Split Big Ten Battles
The Oregon men’s tennis team suffered a tough 4-0 loss to No. 4 Ohio State on Friday night, marking their first home defeat of the season.
The Buckeyes claimed the doubles point with wins on courts two and three, though Oregon’s Paris Pouatcha and Clement Lemire were leading 5-2 at No. 2 when their match went unfinished.
In singles, Ohio State’s firepower proved too much. Lemire fell first to No. 74 Jack Anthrop, while Lenn Luemkemann put up a fight against No. 10 Aidan Kim but ultimately lost 6-1, 6-4. The Buckeyes clinched the match when No. 50 Alexander Bernard defeated Vlad Breazu.
Pouatcha was in the middle of a strong battle on court three, winning the second set 6-4 and locked at 5-5 in the third when play was stopped. Matthew Burton and Lachlan Robertson’s matches also went unfinished.

Ducks Bounce Back with Sweep of Penn State
Oregon men’s tennis responded in dominant fashion on Sunday, rolling past Penn State 4-0 at the Student Tennis Center to pick up their first conference win of the season.
The Ducks set the tone early with a dominant doubles performance. Vlad Breazu and Lachlan Robertson struck first with a 6-1 win on court three, followed by an identical 6-1 victory from Lenn Luemkemann and Matthew Burton at the top spot, securing the 1-0 lead.
Robertson carried that momentum into singles, delivering a 6-3, 6-4 win on court six to double Oregon’s lead. Freshman Pouatcha, moving up to court four, followed with a strong 6-2, 7-5 victory to push the Ducks to the brink of clinching. Luemkemann then sealed the deal at No. 1, grinding out a 7-5, 6-3 win to complete the sweep.
