Stockton Kings Beat Rip City Remix, 118-111

Guard Bryce McGowens and the Rip City Remix lost a close duel with former Portland Trail Blazers forward Skal Labissiere and the Stockton Kings at the Chiles Center Sunday afternoon.

Despite 28 points from McGowens, Labissiere and guard Mason Jones powered the Kings to the 118-111 win with big scoring nights. The Remix held a 106-100 lead near the midway point of the fourth quarter, but the Kings closed the game on a 18-5 run to seal it.

Remix Player of the Game: Bryce McGowens. After this season, we may have to officially name this category in honor of McGowens. Once again, the Blazers 6-foot-6, two-way contract guard led the Remix in scoring with 28 points on 10-21 shooting from the field and 3-6 shooting from deep. Honorable mention goes to the Remix’s second-leading scorer in the loss, forward Henri Drell, who registered 18 points, six rebounds and five assists on 7-11 shooting from the field.

Stat of the Game: 65. That number marks the combined point total from Labissiere and Jones, who both went for over 30 in the Kings’ win. Jones dropped a team-high 34 points on 11-20 gunning, while Labissiere was close behind with 31 points on 13-21 shooting and 14 rebounds. Only one other Stockton player scored in double-figures, but with Labissiere and Jones doing that much damage, that was the only firepower the Kings needed.

Box Score

What’s Next: A rematch with Stockton. The Remix get another crack at the Kings Monday evening at home. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Pacific.
