Softball Recap: Littlewood Classic Game 1
The Oregon Ducks came up just short in a hard-fought 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Arizona State Sun Devils. Their first loss of the season came in the opening game of the Littlewood Classic against the host team in Tempe, AZ. Oregon struck first in the opening frame when Emma Cox singled to right, bringing home Kaylynn Jones for an early 1-0 lead.
Arizona State responded in the third, capitalizing on a two-run double from Tiare Ho-Ching and a sacrifice fly by Kelsey Hall to take a 3-1 advantage. The Ducks battled back in the fourth, as Jones roped a two-run double to center, tying the game at 3-3 after a Sun Devils fielding error.
The game remained deadlocked until the eighth, when Ho-Ching delivered again, this time with a walk-off RBI single to right, scoring Tanya Windle and sealing the 4-3 victory for Arizona State.
