Soccer: Wisconsin & Minnesota Recaps
The Ducks soccer team took to Pape Field this past week to host two midwestern rivals in the final 2 home games of the season.
Wisconsin came into the Thursday game as the 15th ranked team in college soccer and would be a tough test for the young Ducks team. Caley Goldstein made a big save early to keep the game scoreless early.
The Ducks best chance in the first half came in the 19th minute when Carly Cormack went on a run up the left side and was able to get a cross into the middle of the pitch for Savannah Holley, who would miss the shot high.
The two teams would go into the half deadlocked 0-0.
Out of the 2nd half Wisconsin would get on the scoreboard with a 53rd minute goal to give the Badgers a 1-0 edge heading into the final 3rd of the game.
The Ducks would press and their best chance to draw even came in the 86th minute when Addisen Boyer had the ball on her foot in a dangerous area that she would put just wide and the Ducks would fall 1-0 to Wisconsin.
Senior day for the Soccer team would see the Ducks take on the Golden Gophers hoping to give the seniors a win in their final game in Eugene.
The Ducks pressed for offense early and had a great chance when Savannah Holley made a great pass to Miya Alamares who would barely miss giving the Ducks the early lead.
With the skies opened up the Ducks were much more prepared for the liquid form of perceptiation than the Gophers curious as to why it wasn’t white and fluffy and Oregon was able to generate two more great chances that were a close calls for a goal.
Despite all of the pressure the Gophers got a great opportunity to get the games first goal with a penalty kick. Thankfully keeper Caeley Goldstein came up with a huge save
Despite all of the action the game would go into half scoreless. Out of half Minnesota had another golden opportunity for a goal but Goldstein came up huge once again.
The remaining half hour saw limited chances and as a result the game would finish as a scoreless draw.
The Ducks will look to pick up a conference win next weekend in their final conference game when they travel to Seattle to take on Washington.
