January 24

MULTNOMAH VILLAGE—Celebrated Portland pizzeria Tastebud is finally reopening its dining room after five years of being takeout-only. There’s going to be a grand opening celebration from January 29 to February 1 featuring food and drinks specials plus special giveaways. “It is so nice to finally have an answer to my most frequently-asked-question since 2020: ‘When will you open the dining room again?’” said owner Mark Doxtader in a press release.

January 18

KERNS—After losing its space following the closure of Aimsir Distilling, vegan Chinese restaurant Jade Rabbit, from chef Cyrus Ichiza, has reemerged. Ichiza’s fans are reportedly overwhelming the new restaurant, so be warned: Get a reservation or expect a wait.

DOWNTOWN—Toasted S’mores Bar, from Nico’s Ice Cream owner Nico Vergara, has opened on Alder Street. S’mores? S’mores! This nostalgia-laden dessert was a trend at some high-end restaurants before the onset of the pandemic; expect artisan ingredients and fun flavor combinations.

BOISE—A new coffee shop called Brave Neighbor just opened next to the Spin Laundry Lounge. It pledges to be a “living room for the neighborhood” and Bridgetown Bites wrote in a preview that “I can see it being conducive for friends meeting up for coffee, remote workers, board game nights, and more social activities.”

January 16

NOB HILL—The influential Ken’s Artisan Bakery just opened a new storefront next to its existing bakery. Dubbed Ken’s Artisan Bakery Annex, it promises “bread, pastries and a limited lunch/ breakfast menu.”

January 15

BEAVERTON—Anthony La Pietra, the owner of Tito’s Taquitos, has turned the food cart he has parked at the Breakside Brewery taproom in Beaverton into a new idea called Alita’s, which serves Mexican-inspired fried chicken, plus sides and desserts.

January 14

BEAVERTON—Kayo’s Ramen, the acclaimed ramen restaurant known for its vegan options and “Japon” tacos, just opened its second location, inside the Cedar Hills Crossing shopping mall.

January 6

CONCORDIA—Pleasure Mountain, which claims to be the only Indian cocktail bar in the U.S., just soft opened. Its drink menu, which is sorted into categories of “adventure level,” includes a Bloody Mary made with guava juice instead of tomato juice and a cocktail featuring coconut fat-washed Scotch, kalonji masala syrup, tamarind-date puree, cream, and Amaro.
