This picture shows the south side sidewalk between 10th and 9th Ave on Yamhill, with a sign for the Pythian Building in the background. Located at 902 SW Yamhill St, the Pythian Ballroom hosted Portland’s first Gay Pride celebration dance in June 1971, organized by The Second Foundation Oregon. Between 1977 and 1979, the Pythian’s second floor ballroom became Mildred’s Palace, the first disco in Portland for LGBTQ+ youth.
