Poll: The Big Ten: Corn States
It’s a strange world we live in now. Oregon is in a conference where, after football, our foes’ next biggest battleground is who grows the best corn. After one full athletic season in the Big Ten, I find myself relating to a particular Family Guy scene more often than I ever thought I would.
What’s especially interesting about this upcoming football season is that Oregon will face three opponents who are not only longtime members of the Big Ten, but also proud representatives of the Corn Belt: Wisconsin, Iowa, and Minnesota.
And while most people associate the Big Ten with powerhouses like Ohio State and Michigan, true college football degenerates know the real essence of the B1G is Iowa vs. Wisconsin.
It’s 36 degrees out — which also happens to be the combined number of pass attempts in the game. It’s 2:30 p.m. Central, and there are 27 punts, 2 defensive touchdowns, 1 fullback dive on 3rd-and-8, and a suspiciously large man named “Gunnar” with a mullet returning kicks.
That’s Big Ten corn football.
With all of that being said were here at ATQ were curious to see which of these opponents Oregon fans are most looking forward to playing this season:
