Poll: The 2025 MLB Draft

Poll: The 2025 MLB Draft

With the last of the Oregon MLB Draftees finally signing their contract, I thought it would be a fun opportunity to check in with y’all and see which player you think will have the best professional career.

First off, we’ve got OF Mason Neville. Neville was drafted in the 4th round by the Cincinnati Reds, with the 114th pick in the draft. This is actually the second time he was drafted by the Reds, because they also drafted him in the 18th round of the 2022 draft. Mason led all of college baseball with 26 HRs this past season, while putting up an impressive .293/.433/.745 slash line.

Next up, getting selected just five picks after Neville, we have RHP Jason Reitz, who was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the 4th round, with pick 119. Reitz, the gangly 6’11” pitcher will most likely have to put on a little muscle in order to help manage any potential injuries and pad out his slim frame a little bit. Jason pitched pretty well for the Ducks this year, putting up a 3.50 ERA over 15 starts, with a 26.8% strikeout rate.

Up next is LHP Grayson Grinsell, inarguably the ace of the Oregon pitching staff this season. Grayson was drafted in the 6th round, with pick 189, by the Detroit Tigers, who have quietly become a legitimate contender in the MLB, thanks mostly because of their ace lefty, Tarik Skubal. Grinsell pitched wonderfully this past year, throwing a 3.01 ERA over 98.2 innings.

Next is the big 1B, Jacob Walsh. Walsh was drafted in the 15th round by the Washington Nationals, with pick 441. I honestly don’t know how Walsh slipped so far in the draft. He plays a good 1B in the field, and posted a career high in average, hitting to a whopping .332 this season. He also posted the lowest K rate, and the highest walk rate of his career, while still hitting for power with 19 HRs and 17 doubles. It absolutely baffles me that he fell so far. The Nats got a steal, in my personal opinion.

Lastly is C Anson Aroz, who was picked in the 19th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers, with the 585th pick. Aroz hit a solid .281 this season, while slugging a career high .583, thanks in large part to a career high 17 HRs, more than doubling his career total prior to this season. Aroz is a solid fielding catcher, with the ability to hit for above average power for the position, while maintaining a high on base percentage throughout the season (.417). He also should not have been ejected from that game in the NCAA Tournament, but whatever. I’ll be bitter about that forever, I fear.

But there you have it! All five players drafted this year. Who do y’all think will pan out?
