Pelicans Hire Trail Blazers Scout Jason Hervey

HoopsHype is reporting that the New Orleans Pelicans have added Jason Hervey to their organization. Hervey has spent the last four seasons as an advance scout for the Portland Trail Blazers. Before his stint in Portland Hervey had worked for the Detroit Pistons in a variety of roles, for the Minnesota Timberwolves as a personnel scout and quality control coach, and the Phoenix Suns as an advance scout. It has not been announced what role he will take within the Pelicans organization.

Hervey becomes the latest person on the Blazers staff to leave after the club parted ways last week with assistant coaches Roy Rogers, Chris Fleming, and Ryan Gomes. Replacements for Hervey or any of the assistant coaches have not yet been named. After signing an extension last month, head coach Chauncey Billups will clearly have many opportunities to remake his staff in the manner that he sees fit.
