Oregon Volleyball Falls To OSU In Exhibition Match

Oregon State prevailed in yesterday’s exhibition match in Corvallis, winning in four sets.

The Beavers won set one 25-18, and Oregon tied things up with a 25-22 set two win. Oregon State took the final two sets, 25-18 and 25-21.

There isn’t much to read into the final score. The Ducks are a completely different team that have never played together, so they have a lot of sets, positions, and lineups to work through and get the combinations that will be successful for this new team. The problems during the match for the Ducks were, as explained after the game by head coach Trent Kersten, “…more execution things; how do we have a good hand on balls with some of the different lineups and the different setters that are providing us looks?”

It’s a lot to work out, and a reason why Oregon’s schedule starts soft during the non-conference part of the season – they have a continuing work in progress on their hands.

Oregon’s season begins in earnest this coming weekend in the EVEN Hotel Bobcat Invite, hosted by Montana State in Bozeman, MT. Oregon will face South Dakota on Friday, Prairie View A&M on Saturday, and Montana State on Sunday.
