Oregon Ducks Softball Transfer Comparisons
Transfers Out Of Oregon –
Oregon softball showed remarkable stability in the offseason between 2024 and 2025. That stability was noteworthy, but as was the case in ‘22 and ‘23, the transfers out were primarily pitchers. It is not a surprise that the sole entrant into the transfer portal last year was also a pitcher, Stevie Hansen
Stevie Hansen – Washington
Stevie Hansen was a primary pitcher for the Ducks in her first two seasons, pitching 124 innings in 2022 and 146 innings in 2023, then kind of fell off the charts after the out-of-conference schedule in 2024 as Morgan Scott and Elise Sokolsky took over. In 2024, Hansen appeared in only 20 games – mostly OOC – and averaged 2.2 innings each game. After the season, Hanson transferred to Washington.

What the chart tells us is that Hansen played a lateral role in transferring. Her numbers in terms of games played, starts, hits, runs, etc. are nearly identical. She did face more batters while lowering her ERA and opponent BAVG. Her strikeouts increased by 68% – quite significant given relatively even appearances with more innings pitched.
On the whole, however, Stevie Hansen with the Huskies is the same Stevie Hansen as with the Ducks.
Transfers In To Oregon –
Dezianna Patmon – New Mexico State
Even with senior fielders graduating, Ducks softball needed little help in the field and lineup. They did pick up a relative unknown in the form of a DP from New Mexico State, Dezianna Patmon.

It’s fair to say that Patmon’s numbers hold remarkably stable given her jump from CUSA to the Big Ten. Patmon was solid in her play at RF. Ultimately, her numbers will not reflect the intangibles of her play in the NCAA playoffs that took Ducks softball to Oklahoma City.
With Morgan Scott graduating and Stevie Hansen transferring, Oregon needed immediate help in filling out their pitching room, and so they brought in two pitchers: Staci Chambers and Lyndsey Grein.
Staci Chambers – Cal State Fullerton
In her junior season with CSF, Chambers’ role and production increased quite dramatically. It’s no wonder that Melyssa Lombardi snagged her from the portal – the improvement in Chambers’ game in 2024 as compared with 2022 and 2023 jumps off the page at you.

Unfortunately, we’ll never really know how much better Oregon pitching could have been in 2025. We get a glimpse of what could have been in the NCAA playoff, but losing Chambers for much of the season to injury not only meant the loss of a good LHP, it ultimately put a greater load on Lyndsey Grein and Elise Sokolsky
Lyndsey Grein – Virginia Tech
Grein was not the primary pitcher for the Hokies last season, she was #2. While her pitching improved in 2024 over her 2023 freshman season, it doesn’t really jump at you. Lombardi clearly saw things differently.

Nothing would seem to foretell the leap that took place in Grein’s pitching performance. Lombardi worked with her in aspects of Grein’s pitching game and the results speak for themselves. While we may lament some individual unfortunate instances during the season, the numbers do tell us that her status as one of the top pitchers in softball in the 2025 season was not a mirage.
