Oregon Ducks Baseball Battles Rain And Minnesota To A 4-2 Win

Amidst some periods of heavy rain that threatened to postpone yesterday’s game, Oregon baseball hung in there and picked up a series win with a 4-2 victory over the Minnesota Golden Gophers yesterday in PK Park.

Collin Clarke took the mound for the Ducks, facing Minnesota’s Kyle Remington. Both pitchers allowed no hits in the first two innings. The Gophers struck in the top of the third inning when a throwing error with two on base led to the game’s first run, giving Minnesota a 1-0 lead.

That’s all the Gophers would get against Clarke, as he pitched a full seven innings while only allowing single runs in the fifth and seventh innings.

The Ducks began making noise in the fifth inning. Mason Neville hit a sacrifice fly to center to even the game 1-1.

Oregon got to Remington again in the seventh inning with a pair of doubles to start the bottom of the inning; the first by Jeffrey Heard, and the Ryan Cooney double that followed scored Heard to take the lead.

That spelled the end of Kyle Remington’s day, but the Ducks were not done and picked up another run off of Minnesota’s reliever to make it a 3-1 ball game.

Collin Clarke pitched a fine seven innings for Oregon, successfully rising to the challenges of the Gophers lineup and the weather.

Clarke was replaced by Ryan Featherston, who pitched very well given the afternoon’s relentless rain.

Oregon picked up another run in the bottom of the eighth, and Minnesota added a run in the top of the ninth, giving the Ducks the 4-2 win. Here is your final line:
