February 15

KERNS — On January 31, Culmination Brewing announced that it would cease operations and close its taproom on February 15. According to the Oregonian, the award-winning brewery tried everything from crowdfunding to hiring a business consultant, but it couldn’t recover from pandemic-related financial woes.

January 31

BRIDGEPORT VILLAGE — Bunk Sandwiches closed its beer hall inside Bridgeport Village on January 31, writing on Facebook that it had lost its lease. That makes Bunk no longer a chain — it’s down to one location in Buckman, Bunk Bar.

HOSFORD-ABERNATHY — K&F Coffee Roaster, which claimed to be the oldest “family owned specialty coffee roaster” in Portland, has closed. According to a reader tip received by Bridgetown Bites, “The business was struggling ever since the pandemic and with recent rent hikes they could no longer afford to stay open.” Eater Portland reached out to Rudy Zarfas, who has owned the roaster since 2019, but did not immediately hear back.

January 21

NOB HILL — Longtime neighborhood staples Caffe Mingo and Barba Mingo, closed since they damaged in a fire last year, are now officially closed permanently, despite the efforts of Michael Cronan to rebuild. According to Bridgetown Bites, the lot will be redeveloped and Cronan has retired from the restaurant business.

January 10

FOSTER-POWELL — According to an Instagram post (h/t Bridgetown Bites), Sandy’s Myanmar Cuisine has closed its location in the CORE food cart pod, though it is still open for delivery and catering orders.
