The Big News
- Jonas Valanciunas is giving thought to going overseas to play with Panathinaikos Athens. Panathinaikos is reportedly offering three years, worth approximately $13 million. The catch of course is that Valanciunas is under contract. He’s just been traded from the Sacramento Kings to the Denver Nuggets for Dario Saric, so once the trade is made official he is obligated to the Nuggets. His contract for 2025-26 stands at $10.4 million, with a 2026-27 $10 million team option. If Denver wants to enforce the contract they can prevent Valanciunas from signing for Panathiniaikos, but forcing a player to honor a contract isn’t always the wisest move. Valanciunas is from Lithuania, so returning closer to home to an excellent European team might well very alluring proposition. (Basketnews)
