Men’s Basketball Recap: Oregon vs Nebraska

The Ducks returned home to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Sunday afternoon, looking to bounce back from a couple of tough road losses. But, basically right from the jump, it looked like we were in for another tough watch, with the Huskers launching off to an early 12-4 lead with Oregon seemingly unable to find any sort of an offensive rhythm once again. Nebraska’s lead would eventually balloon up to 15 points with just under 5 to play in the half before a quick 11-2 Oregon run would trim things down to just a 6-point Nebraska advantage at the half, by a score of 34-28.

The second half would be more of the same, with Oregon continuously playing catch-up. Though the Nebraska lead would never quite reach the same heights as it did in the first half, the Ducks just couldn’t seem to get it back down below 4-6 points, try as they might. The Huskers would go on to win the game 77-71, handing Oregon their third consecutive loss.

What was once looking like a promising season back in December now seems to be slipping further and further out of reach with every bad offensive possession, or lackluster defensive effort. I don’t know what is going on in the Ducks locker room, but something needs to change, and fast, if this team even wants a chance at playing in the NCAA tournament this March.

The Ducks will try to right the ship on Wednesday, February 5th against the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor.

‘Sco Ducks. Always.
