Ty Jerome let his frustrations with the officials be known after a narrow win Sunday against the Blazers.

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Ty Jerome was fined $25,000 for criticizing the referees following the Cavalier’s 133-129 overtime win over the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday. The NBA released a statement about the fine on social media on Monday.

NEW YORK, March 3, 2025 – Cleveland Cavaliers guard Ty Jerome has been fined $25,000 for public criticism of the officiating, it was announced today by Joe Dumars, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations.

Jerome made his comments to the media following the Cavaliers’ 133-129 overtime victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on March 2 at Rocket Arena

Jerome criticized the officiating crew, pointing out Natalie Sago specifically, in his postgame comments:

I thought the refs were really bad tonight, especially Natalie [Sago], she was really bad. Stuff like that happens. They kind of lose control of the game, and you just got to keep your head. I thought that first half was ridiculous. Third quarter was horrendous.

Jerome finished the game against Portland with 25 points, six assists, five rebounds and six steals. He was also assessed a technical foul late in the first quarter.

The Blazers finished the game with 26 fouls, compared to Cleveland’s 27. Both teams shot 35 shots from the free throw line.
