Brooklyn Upholstering Company, circa 1931
The exterior view of Brooklyn Upholstering Company. Two men stand before the storefront in work aprons and a small child leans against the door. The second image shows the back of the photograph with handwritten notes. This image comes from a collection of images taken by an itinerant photographer during the early part of the Great Depression. The photographs were given to Irene Archer and Cody Bottorff, who later donated them to the Portland City Archives.

Painted text on the window reads: “Brooklyn Upholstering Co.”. A large sign over the storefront advertises: “We specialize in antiques, reupholstering & refinishing. Overstuffed Furniture made to order. Mattresses made renovated and repaired feather mattresses made”.
