Albina Neighborhood Improvement Committee, 1964

A group attending the Albina Neighborhood Improvement Committee (ANIC) meeting with Reverend Roosevelt Rogers who is at the far right of the photograph, 1964. The Albina Neighborhood Improvement Project (ANIP) was started by community members as a response to urban renewal displacement practices. Their goal was to improve the neighborhood so it could not be deemed blighted and cleared for urban renewal. Regular council meetings, tree planting, a regular newsletter, and community clean-ups are just a few of the offerings and activities the group organized.
