Women’s Golf: 2025 NCAA Championship Coverage
Round 1 – Holding Strong in Windy Conditions
No. 5 Oregon opened the NCAA Championships with an even-par 288, finishing the first round tied for third at Omni La Costa. Despite teeing off in tougher afternoon conditions, the Ducks were one of just six teams to shoot par or better. Sophomores Ting-Hsuan Huang and Suvichaya Vinijchaitham led the way with 1-under 71s, while Kiara Romero added an even-par 72. A red-hot start saw Oregon go 5 under through five holes, highlighted by four straight birdies from Huang. Oregon sat six strokes off the lead entering Saturday.
Round 2 – Staying in the Hunt
Oregon maintained its position near the top with a 1-over 289, finishing the day alone in third at 1 over overall. Huang and Vinijchaitham again shot even par and are both tied for 13th individually at 1 under. Junior Anika Varma made her NCAA debut and delivered a crucial even-par 72, helping Oregon stay five shots behind leader Stanford and 12 strokes clear of the top-15 cut. Oregon’s consistency and morning tee time advantage kept them in strong contention heading into Sunday.
Round 3 – Birdie Surge Secures Top Three Spot
A late-round birdie flurry propelled Oregon to its best score of the week, a 3-under 285, keeping the Ducks in third at 2 under overall. Oregon birdied seven times over the final four holes, with Vinijchaitham leading the charge with a 2-under 70. Huang followed with a 71, and both are under par through three rounds. Romero and Varma each carded even-par 72s, while freshman Tong An shot 1 over. The Ducks comfortably secured their spot in the top 15, setting the stage for Monday’s final round of stroke play.
Round 4 – Romero’s Record Round Locks Match Play Berth
Oregon surged to a 4-under 284 in the final round to clinch the No. 2 seed for match play at 6 under overall. Kiara Romero fired a career-best 7-under 65, vaulting into a tie for eighth and breaking her own UO 72-hole scoring record. Vinijchaitham capped her consistent week with a 71 to finish tied for 10th, while An and Huang rounded out Oregon’s scoring with 71 and 75, respectively. With depth and momentum on their side, the Ducks are set to face Texas in Tuesday’s quarterfinals, eyeing a return to the NCAA semifinals.
