Deni Avdija, Toumani Camara Get Votes for Most Improved Player


Portland Trail Blazers forwards Deni Avdija and Toumani Camara both got votes for the NBA’s 2024-25 Most Improved Player, according to the NBA.

Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels won the award with 332 total points. Avdija and Camara got 17 and 5 points, respectively:

The 24-year-old Avdija averaged 16.9 points per game (+2.2 from last year) in his fifth NBA season, his first in Portland. Avdija also took 4.8 threes per game, a career high by nearly two threes per game, and had a career high 116 offensive rating. Avdija took an offensive leadership role for a developing Portland team, and was often their best player in an up-and-down year.

Camara, also 24 years old but in his second NBA season (both with Portland), averaged 11.3 points (+3.8 from last year), 5.8 rebounds (+0.9), 2.2 assists (+1.0), and 1.5 steals (+0.6). He also averaged 37.5% on 4.6 threes per game, up from 33.7% on 2.5 threes last year, and emerged as an All-Defensive Team-level defender, helping the Blazers to the NBA’s 16th-best defense, the best it’s been since the 2018-19 season.
