Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard Exits Game 4 With Feared Achilles Tear


Damian Lillard suffered a left ankle injury in Game 4 of the first-round series between his Milwaukee Bucks and the Indiana Pacers Sunday night. Running toward a rebound in the first quarter, his leg gave out, and he landed on the ground in pain. The pain seemed to continue while Lillard sat on the court and grabbed his ankle. After play stopped, he was helped to the locker room.

Shortly after, NBA reporter Chris Haynes announced that the injury is suspected to be a torn left Achilles tendon.

Sources: The fear is Bucks star Damian Lillard suffered a left Achilles tear. Brutal circumstance after working himself back from a blood clot diagnosis that kept him out over a month.

As Haynes notes, Lillard recently returned for the NBA Playoffs after suffering from deep vein thrombosis in his right calf. The injury caused him to require a round of blood thinners. Before returning for Game 2, Lillard hadn’t played in a game since March 18 due to the health scare.

Lillard will next head to imaging for an official diagnosis. ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that an MRI is scheduled for Monday.
