Oregon Ducks Lacrosse Season’s-End Recaps
Oregon women’s lacrosse played their final three games of the season on the road. First, they headed to the Midwest to take on Eastern Michigan and Northwestern, and then traveled south to play USC.
Eastern Michigan
After playing their final home game against Michigan at Papé Field, the Ducks traveled to Ypsilanti for a match against Eastern Michigan.
The game was a tale of two halves. The Ducks fell behind in the first and second periods and were down 9-5 at the half. EMU had the edge on shots and draw controls; otherwise, the teams’ stats were more or less even.
EMU added another goal a few minutes into the third period, and then Oregon flipped a gear and went on an 8-0 run after that and into the 4th period to pull ahead 13-10. EMU added a late score off a free position shot with 5:35 left to play and that was all the scoring that either side would do, and Oregon won 13-11.
Bri Carrasquillo finished with three scores, and Alex Matsuoka, Emma Ing and Rachel Pallo scored a pair of goals each. Paige Crowther made seven saves, and earned her fifth win of the season at the goalkeeper spot.
The Ducks ended the game with a 30-26 edge in shots, and a 16-12 advantage in draw controls.
Northwestern
After coming from behind to defeat EMU, Oregon traveled to Evanston, IL, to take on #3 Northwestern. The recap of that game is the lead story here.
USC
Oregon’s final game of the season was against USC. The recap of that game is the lead story here.
As I said in the USC recap, Oregon lacrosse finishes their season at 6-10. Their drop from last year’s 8-7 record is not an indictment on the team regressing; rather, it’s an indicator of just how talented the Big Ten’s lacrosse teams are, with four teams in the Top 25 – #17 Michigan, #8 Maryland, #7 Johns Hopkins, and #4 Northwestern. (Oregon is #80).
