Billy Webb Elks Lodge, 1969


The Billy Webb Elks Lodge, located on the corner of N Tillamook Street and N Williams Avenue. The building was constructed as part of the Portland YWCA in 1926. The building served as a community center, Red Cross emergency center after the Vanport Flood, and a meeting location for the NAACP, the Urban League, and the Congress of Racial Equality. It became the Billy Webb Elks branch in 1959, and continues to serves as the Elks Lodge to this day. The branch was named after the bandleader of the African American Elks band that played in Portland.

The Billy Webb Elks Lodge is featured in the Albina Soul Walk by the Albina Music Trust along with several other landmark locations. https://www.albinamusictrust.com/albina-soul-walk
