What Portland Trail Blazers Jersey Do You Hold Most Dear?
One of my favorite parts of attending Portland Trail Blazers games this season has been the wide array of Trail Blazers jerseys that fill up the rows of the Moda Center.
Sure, fans show up representing the greats of Rip City — Damian Lillard, Clyde Drexler, Bill Walton. You also see a fair amount of the current iteration of the franchise — Scoot Henderson, Anfernee Simons, Deni Avdija, etc. But, perhaps, the most fun jersey sightings in the crowd are when fans pay homage to the more niche fan favorites of yesteryear.
You’re bound to catch a little more attention from nearby fans if your jersey is a little rarer, representing names like Chris Kaman, Sergio Rodriguez, Wesley Matthews, Andre Miller and others from Rip City lore.
With those thoughts in mind, today’s All-Star Break community discussion question revolves around jerseys: What is your most prized Blazers jersey that you own or have ever owned in your collection?
Also, if you’re up for it, what is the most niche Blazers jersey you’ve seen in the wild, and what names from this current roster may turn into the more niche fan favorites that are still seen on jerseys at the Moda Center years after they’ve left?
To get things started, I’d have to say my favorite Blazers jersey in my modest collection is an old Joel Przybilla one, signed by the Vanilla Gorilla himself (supposedly). My friend picked it up at a garage sale for $1 and then gave it to me. Truly a case of one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
As far as the other questions, Toumani Camara and Donovan Clingan seem like names that could end up being occasional but fond jersey sighting at home games years from now. There’s so much left to their stories though, it’s hard to tell where they’ll fall on the “niche scale.”
Thinking of other recent Blazers, Josh Hart could maybe be a fan favorite throwback jersey down the road, or Carmelo Anthony, given the prestige behind the Hall of Famer’s name.
But what say you, Blazer’s Edge? Let us know in the comments below!
