Rockets, Steven Adams Agree on $39 Million Deal
The Houston Rockets have re-signed center Steven Adams to a three-year, $39 million contract, keeping the veteran pivot off of the free agency market this summer. Shams Charania of ESPN posted the news on X today:
Just In: Houston Rockets center Steven Adams has agreed to a three-year, $39 million contract extension to stay with the franchise, sources tell ESPN. After playing a key rotation and leadership role in the Rockets’ playoff run, the new deal keeps a top center out of free agency.
The 12-year veteran averaged 3.9 points and 5.6 rebounds in 13.7 minutes per game in 58 appearances for the Rockets last season with 3 starts. This marked Adams’ return after missing the entire 2024-25 season due to injury.
The $13 million per year deal is in the vicinity of the league’s mid-level cap exception amount, projected to be $14.1 million for the 2025-26 campaign. Adams will turn 32 before the new season starts.
